Celebrating Andy’s life

Watch the full service through YouTube, with captions in the player and chapter links below.

A story told with love and laughter

Led by civil celebrant Digby Hart, the service remembers the whole Andy: the young painter and decorator, the Fremantle nightclub years, the life he built with Danielle Gough, the move to Darwin and the friendships that became family.

Dani and her dad, Peter Gough, told the family story. Josh King remembered friendship and the Discovery and PORU years. Steve Gamston read Andrew Sauer’s tribute, and Sharon Kimberley spoke about kindness, integrity and friendship. Together they captured the weekly haircuts, chaotic driving, Sunday dinners, ambitious projects and quiet acts of care.

The voices in the service

Danielle Gough

Dani’s eulogy follows Andy from Lilydale, England and the open road to Fremantle, Darwin and the projects and people he loved. At its centre is the life they shared and their lantern promise in Thailand.

Peter Gough and Carol

Peter Gough spoke for the family about La Porchetta, ‘the Fockers’, chopped fingertips, pads and gloves, Aston, WWAD and the man whose word and handshake were cast in stone.

Josh King

Josh remembered meeting Andy at Discovery in 2013, the jokes that became their language, their years at Neptune and the way an extravagant PORU idea became affordable and effective.

Andrew Sauer

In words read by Steve Gamston, Andrew described Andy as the calm in the storm: leader, mentor, friend, brother and challenger, present in daily calls and in the work they built.

Sharon Kimberley

Sharon spoke of kindness, integrity and friendship: the office dance, the opportunities Andy created, his trust in people and the simple ambition to leave the world safer and kinder.
